Despite our best efforts, external factors such as humidity, temperature fluctuations, sunlight, road salt, industrial gases, bird droppings, and tree sap can affect the vehicle paintwork. In the absence of regular and appropriate paintwork aftercare, the coating may lose its shine and resistance to external influences. To ensure the longevity and value of a car's coating, it is essential to undertake adequate paintwork maintenance using aftercare products.
In order to properly care for the vehicles paintwork, it is imperative to thoroughly wash it prior to any polishing or waxing. It is not recommended to apply polish or wax in direct sunlight, as the warm surface of the paintwork can make it more delicate and challenging to work with.
Newly refinished paint should be treated with care and only cleaned using clean water without any additives for the first 4-6 weeks.
During this time, the paint film needs sufficient time to cure and for any residual solvent to escape. Once the paint has fully cured, any cleaning method, including car washes or high-pressure cleaning, can be used.
HOW TO POLISH YOUR VEHICLE PROPERLY
- A faint haze on the paint surface, as observed on vehicles that are nearly new, can be effectively eliminated using a high-gloss polish. To apply, gently rub the mild polish onto the cleaned paintwork and allow it to dry.
- Remove the polish residue with a soft microfibre cloth, and for lasting shine preservation, it is recommended to follow up with the application of a high-gloss hard wax.
- For older or significantly deteriorated paintwork, it is recommended to perform a pre-treatment with finish cleaner after washing and drying.
- To do so, saturate a soft microfibre cloth with the finish cleaner and apply it section by section in a circular motion, which will remove dirt particles and weathering products that may cause the cloth to assume the color of the paint. Following this intensive cleaning, the application of a high-gloss hard wax is essential.
- In addition to regular maintenance, we advise inspecting the paintwork annually before the onset of winter to detect any potential stone chips or paint damage and have it repaired as necessary. This is the most reliable method to prevent damage from spreading.
